I asked for Dans help for a close relative who had lost their way and had issues with various drugs resulting in them becoming the absolute worst version of themselves... read more over a number of years (23yo male). Sought help from the NHS too… (6 weeks later they still haven’t allocated a key worker) From the first message, I knew that Dan was going to help. He understood and was emphatic to me and felt like a breath of fresh hair. We arranged a meeting and the relative was nervous on the way. Dan was there waiting and just took him off for a walk. Literally he arrived back to the car a different person, the person of old. It was like the sun had come out for him. He was giggling all the way home about something Dan had said. He is now 4 meetings in and he is going from strength to strength. He says Dan has changed his way of looking at life. He’s happier and more communicative with everyone. He is up every morning at a normal time instead of sleeping drugs off all day. Dan regularly communicates with us as a family and is there for us all. My relative tells Dan things he doesn’t tell anyone. Dan treats him as a mate, not a patient. I can only see things (for the first time in 5 years) getting better and better. Dan has said that he is a mate for life and will always be there for him. If you are someone with a young addict in your family, I would recommend 1000000% referring them to Dan. He relates to them in ways that official channels don’t. You can’t tell him anything that he hasn’t heard before. Please send that message or make that phone call. For someone who suffers from anxiety it is very difficult to engage... read more with the help that is offered by organisations such as Achieve, AA or even rehab, as, initially the group activity can be overwhelming and therefore little can be gained from it. It was also very important from my loved one's perspective, that he was able to talk with Danny, as someone who had 'walked in his shoes'. It can be very difficult for someone with dependency issues to explain what it feels like and this is where Danny can help a lot, he has empathy and understanding, but at the same time strives to make people strong again. Being outdoors is obviously a massive plus too from a mental health perspective, it also makes conversation more relaxed. I couldn't recommend Dan enough. I was at a point in my life where enough was enough and I thought my only option at the time was to spend thousands... read more of pounds on rehab. I was drinking excessive amounts of spirits every day and was seeking help from numerous NHS and private phsycological services, after going through numerous attempts at therapy and detoxes with these services it was clear it wasn't working and I was still drinking heavily. I met with Dan numerous times and being outside on a walk rather than stuck in a clinic/zoom call really helped me.
